Played after work yesterday out at the base. After playing 9, we wanted to play 1 and 18 to finish at dark. One is a short par 4 (319 yards) downhill (30 - 50 foot elevation drop) to a small green. Just for grins, I decided to hit driver. There is a bunker that requires about ~235 to carry. I smoked one very high right over the bunker (I can't hit one any better). The ball ended up about 30 - 35 yards short of the pin right in front of the green.
I took my 58* and hit a little acquired motion+ pitch (the + is cause I did a little finish swivel until the club was vertical in front of me and parallel with the flagstick - I wanted the ball nice and high). The ball was tracking the flag all the way, landed about a foot short and took a wicked bounce (back side of a trap - it was firm) and wacked the stick. Unfortunately, it bounced about 10 feet away and I rolled the bird over the right edge. You know, every now and then I think I can almost play this game!
