I have a hypothesis that I wish the distinguished members of this faculty to comment on. The transition from backstroke to downstroke requires apparently the right elbow to go from flexion(mainly the Biceps and the Brachialis Brachii muscles) to extension(mainly the Triceps Brachii muscle). Even a small amount of residual tension i the flexing muscles at the top will impede the downstroke since the transition from flexion to extension is not absolutely momentary. Thus, wouldn´t it be wise to recommend left arm swingers to make an active RFT takeaway with the Biceps and a right arm hitter or swinger to make a left arm takeaway with the right elbow passively folding in order to keep the downswing muscles relaxed?
