I have noticed a difference in the angle of the left femur at the finish of different players. For example... Greg McHatton's left leg looks to be angled slightly away from the target at the finish, and he looks to have some weight still on the right toes. He also has some side bending at the finish.
Lynn Blake's left femur appears to be nearly vertical at the finish, with his head finishing over his left leg, with nearly no weight on the right toes.
He has very little side bending at the finish.
Both strike the ball well!!!
Are the differences due to different Hip Turns(10-14) or Hip Actions(10-15), or Other?
Related, excerpts from George Knudson's The Natural Golf Swing, one of his key concepts was a wider stance with the left foot set forward at address just beyond the left shoulder in a position that will naturally stop the forward motion of the body on a flat front foot:
p.35
".... Hogan .... was dead solid flat on his left foot at the finish of the swing.”
“The thing that Hogan did differently to stay in balance was really quite elementary. He took a wider stance than others.”
“By setting his left foot beyond his shoulder, he ensured that he wouldn’t roll over onto his foot and heel.”
p.87
".... the width of the stance will vary with the length of the club .... It is in the interest of consistency that we keep the left foot in a constant position relative to the ball location. We move the right foot only ...."
Lagster,
Perhaps the left leg at finish is an indicator of the direction and the type of force being applied. Example, Left leg straightening and backin' "up an in" ...is Centripetal Force maintaining/diverting forces around the axis to strike the ball maybe for a "cut shot". Then if the left leg is buckled forward and still bent slightly then perhaps the player is trying to hit a "high-draw" with a slide along the delivery line that moves the lower part of the axis well forward and working "under and up" aka: Danny Noonan of Caddyshack.
Food For Thought!!!
Linear Force -Angle of Aproach - Line Delivery Path - Hip slide"along" or parallel to Delivery Line -
Rotational Forces - Arc Approach - Turning hip around into the Release. See it ... I don't know ...just a hypothesis ...well I don't know how educated...but definitely...definitely...a GUESS!

Sounds like solid analysis to me. Good post! I haven't thought of the finish position in this way.
12 Piece,
Is it Bojangles or KFC... one of the best usernames I've heard here in the computer age. Thomasville .the best furniture... my wife and I enjoy our visits there and up at the "Great Chest of Drawers" at Furniture Land South. Whose catalog is harder to decipher... Furniture Land South or The Machine?
Hey... Mr. Hand... If I'm here and you're here... doesn't that make it ...our time???
Check out Tom Lehman vs. El Tigre regarding left leg action from Impact to Finish!!!

A. Skywalk,
Hmm. Gotta go with Bojangles. Bo knows chicken. However, if you are ever in Tatertown (T-ville), check the Mobile Mart on Unity Street. Chicken + Tater Wedges + Cheerwine = you're in orbit. Thanks on the 'handle.' It came down to bucket vs. carp paradise, then I thought about the old joke about best way to eat carp. Bucket won.
I have enjoyed reading your posts. You have SKILLZ as the younguns say.
Next time in the area, drive down to Lexington eat some Q and go to Transit Damamged Freight. You can find some deals on furniture there.
Knee action Tigre vs. Lehman and Hogan vs. Nelson. More than one way to effectively pluck a chicken.
12 Piece,
Thanks for all the "scoop" in tatertown....Cheerwine endorses Elliot Gealy from Salisbury,NC who recently was the leading Money Winner on The Hooters Tour and won both the Hooters Tour Championship and the Tarheel Tour Championship in the same month....One of the best stroke patterns you'll ever see...Very uncompensated....320-350 yds and some "left-overs".... He knows how to apply both machines in the heat of the "Competition"...He'll be in the "Show" soon...very soon!....I've been blessed to be his Teacher/Coach/Friend for the past 7 years. Compare El Tigre's Hip Action and Leg Action now with Mr. Haney vs. when he worked with "Butchie." What do ya think? Definitely Different....Yeah definitely!!!!
