Machine at work
I have had the wonderful opportunity of working with Jim Renner for the past ten years (since he was a kid working in my bag room in the pro shop) and applying the concepts of TGM. Tomorrow Jim will be looking for a fourth straight professional victory. Three weeks ago he won the Cape Cod Open (67-69-73-209) follow by eleven shot victory in the Vermont State Open (62-62-69-193, seventeen under), before winning the Massachusetts State Open Championship (70-69-65-204, six under). His back-to-back 62’s in Vermont included a lost ball and a bogey on a par 5, otherwise he would have broken the course record. This week Jim goes for four in a row when he defends his title at the TD Banknorth Portland Open. As Homer said, the more precision in, the more precision out.

Best of Luck to Jim at the Portand (ME) Open. I have a lot of special memories of that tournament and Riverside GC. I was an assistant pro there, and hated leaving, but I've found a home in NM.
Riverside is a great municipal course and can yield to some low scoring, but can also punish you with some high #'s if not careful. A classic risk-reward challenge. |

Renner and Burke In the Rhode Island Open

Jim Burke is a PGA Professional (New England section) who also has worked with Drew. He is the men's golf coach at Harvard University http://www.gocrimson.com/ViewArticle...&ATCLID=530104 and this winter spent two days with Yoda at Orange County National in Orlando, Florida. Great work, guys. Congratulations on your fine play! :salut: |
Those are some very low scores 62-66. Congrats - was at the range a few minutes ago chatting with one of Burke's Harvard players.

Thanks for the kind words Michael. We are all here for the same reason; to learn about this wonderful game and as you put it share some knowledge. |
Drew our club is having some success. Our top 18 yr old won the Mass. Junior Amateur this pass week by 4 strokes. Our top college female lost in the final of the prestigious North South to the Australian Amateur Champion. She plans to join the futures tour after graduation next year. Neither is a TGM-er. My son is only a 3-4 strokes behind our top 18 yr old - at age 15. He is a TGM-er!

"Stating" the Facts

Jimmy Demaret was once asked by a talented young golfers if he had what it took to play on the PGA Tour. Demaret replied, "son, are you the best player in your state." The young golfer said, "no". "Well" said Demaret, "then If I were you, I wouldn't bother packing my bags." Recently, Jim has suffered a few physical setbacks. Fortunately, though, he is the best in our state and a few others. BTW, what is a Youtube, more of that modern day computer stuff that keeps us from practicing? |

Drew, I would love to host Jim for a round or two with Sam on a tough golf course down here on Cape Cod. PM me if Jim is interested. |

Drew, is Jim's swing on line anywhere? Id love to see it.
|
A Hand for Clampett
Not that I know of O.B. I have alot of footage, but I have no idea of how to get it on the web :( .
As a side note, Jim said you could not find a nicer guy to play with than Bobby Clampett. Even after a bad shot, Bobby was upbeat, polite and engaging; a real pleasure to play with :) . Bobby will be turning 50 shortly and wants to compete on the Champion's Tour. He plans on playing in the event to be held at Rockbarn Golf and Spa. |
Congratulations on having such a fine young player. Very impressive. Id love to see his swing.
If you're willing to provide the footage, there's got an easy way to get it online. But, I have a feeling his swing will be tv pretty darn soon anyways. |

The 'Fall Classic'. The means employed by the PGA TOUR to determine who will work next year and who will not. No time for feint hearts or queasy stomachs. One purpose. One focus. On this day, the final round of six, Jim Renner stood tall. Sunday evening, on rounds of 72-68-73-69-67, he ranked #27, two slots distant from the Top 25 who would receive their cards on the morrow. Today, in a cold, blustery wind and under the most intense pressure, Jim shot 70, moved up five spots to #22, and entered The Promised Land. http://www.pgatour.com/qschool/leaderboard/ On January 13th, 2011, he will tee it up at the Sony Open in Hawaii as a PGA TOUR 'Exempt Player'. Wow. A card earned. A dream achieved. Congratulations, Jim Renner. And congratulations to our own 'sung' hero . . . Drew Chapman. :salut: |
congrats from germany
fantastic job...
the world is ready for us... keep up the good work and all the best to you and your player michael |
An excellent and entertaining story....
