Nothing like seeing a true hitter in slow motion:

They just showed Kevin Stadler and you could clearly see the closing AND laying back of the clubface (driver) through impact of the angled hinge.

Funny, Kosits said the face opened a little during impact....i wonder if he really knows why it did ;)

I just caught the down-the-line view of it. He did have a very vertical shaft at the top, but the clubface was wide open. Therefore he must be paddlewheeling (constant closing) to get it into impact position. He does, however, go to the End so he must be very, very careful not to begin the downstroke by dragging the club downplane.

His stroke has elements of both Hitting and Swinging. I'd lean towards Hitter, but there are definitely some mismatches that he must be doing a good job of compensating for.

he bends his left wrist the top of the swing causing the wide open face. Then as you say, has a constant closing all the way down.

I also agree he mixes components and thus, is inconsistent in his game.

But either way, i was just talking about the hinge :)

The commentators are usually the WORST. They say so many stupid things, you'd think they were asleep at the wheel or at least had a couple of stiff drinks in the VIP tent. On the seldom occation that I get to see an event (lots of lessons on weekends), I get a kick out of listening to their analysis. It's a good thing they can make a living commentating; giving lessons with that info would have them collecting a government check.

I remember when Elk was doing the Doyle waggle and Curtis Strange says- ‘he wants to get more left forearm into the swing.’ Yikes !

And the worst was a few weeks back when Brandel Chamblee says that an Over the Top move isn’t bad if you shift your weight first. <puke> I have to think Brandel got tongue tied and couldn’t recover from start of his sentence. Or....

The great news for any TGM instructor is that the general public is so confused that we'll never run out of clients. I'm going to keep sending Christmas cards to the Golf Channel, Golf Digest, and all of the golf commentators. They keep me in business.
I still remember the time as a child when I realized that everything that was written in the library and everything that I saw or heard on TV was not gospel, but someone's opinion. It was one of those moments that you never forget. I had always thought adults knew what they were talking about. That childish belief has since been DESTROYED.

quite a number of folks STILL have not figured that one out.... worse yet when those sending the messeges exploit this fact for their own gain

It's often exploited. I guess it's the scientist in me that wants the documented proof. There are those salesmen that could sell ice to an Eskimo. The salesman should be ashamed of himself, and the Eskimo will more than likely die trying to hand feed a wild grizzly bear. Neither would win the award for being the sharpest knife in the drawer.

i'm surprised nobody noticed his right hand coming off the grip post impact? ala vijay...more of a swinger no?..i'm six two 260lbs big chest and my swing has gotten shorter due to what i've learned on this board
