Left Arm and right For arm alingment at address.

So I have recently discovered this site and learned that I am a hitter. I love hitting, I can finally use my strength and knock the snot out of the ball. I have picked up a lot of useful information on this site thus far. In order to save my self cerebral overload. I have three questions that I believe would solidify my new swing.

1. Does a Hitter perform a Right Fore Arm Take Away?

2. Should the right forearm be aligned with the shaft with the elbow tucked in the right hip, when looking down the line at address?

3 should the top of the left wrist be flat at address or should the left arm be straight down under the chin?

I appreciate any help. It just got sunny so I will post video after this weeked.

Since this is my firt post. Some personal background is in order. My name is Carl, I live in Ann Arbor Michigan, I started golfing on the fourth of July 2011 (Independence Day indeed). I have built my entire set of clubs, and I'm looking and transitioning from the legal proffession to a carreer in the golf industry by summer of 2013.

Thank you very much for your time.

Carl, I've enclosed a reference below that summarizes my view of a "short thumb grip" that Hogan taught as he improved his technique. It really has helped me. it was shown to me by Lynn Blake. I am not expert in Hitting or Swinging as others here are but I hit a 145 yard plus 9 iron on purpose several times yesterday through a goal post both Hitting and Swinging and several drives that hit their Apex well beyond the 200 yard markers as well.

I am not a Leadbetter fan but I am a novice. Notice references 5 (both of them) and 3.

If you can, go see Lynn.

I am not built like an athlete! :laughing9

Congratulations on starting your golfing journey with the best Golf information in the world. You will probably wanna start at impact fix with te club in line with the left arm ad leaning forward. A flat left wrist and a bent right wrist, the right forearm should ne in line with the shaft at address. You will use a right forearm takeaway from impact fix.

Carl,
1) What's a right fore arm takeaway?
2) Optional
3) Optional

Right forearm takeaway for impact fix...what about adjusted address with R wrist more flat? Is it the drag move + right forearm action?

I'm struggling with my takeaway as I transition from hitting nice impact fix wedges on the range to the real course where I am adjusted with flat R wrist.

Takes awhile to believe the simplicity and effectiveness of RFT!

The simplicity of the RFT threw me off for awhile. I have to wait one more day before going to the range but I'm excited to "take up the slack" and continue to Hit experimenting with a closed face on my longer clubs!

There were no spots on the range and the two putting greens were clogged, but we could find an open 9 so I sent my 19 guys at practice today to play 9 holes. I filled out the last 4-some. I RFT'd my way around for just one bogey and the rest pars. If a few of those putts would have gone in... Thanks for the idea Patrick.

Did you drop the elbow or slowly fire #2 after taking up the slack? On the Ted Fort Golf Channel video, he plainly says that Body Pivot ="Taking up the slack!" Err, I think he does, trying it today!!

Sometimes, I swear, Hitting slower with my Adams old 9.5 Redline by maintaining the wedges and dropping the elbow explodes the ball! Maybe the slower heavier hit magnifies the ball compression or the shaft bend or line of compression or :eyes:

Hitting is the bomb Jerry!

Get a hockey stick....hand it to your wife or somebody that has no clue about golf....watch how the move the stick...with the "square" shaft there is no tendency to load the hockey shaft for Swinging...the blade of the hockey stick will be "shutty" locking...the right forearm will move "in line" with the shaft...there will be no swivelling and the face will stay "square" to the plane....work with the hockey stick and you'll learn how hitting works...

Serious drive loading here....right arm participation (left arm in this cat's case)....angled hinging layback....HITTING.

When I drive the base of my left thumb cross-line I must be engaging the Angle Hinge because of a right drift and the high, really high ball flight even with my Titleist ZB's !

However, when I RFT covering the curved line, and then simply drop my right elbow down, I have a little less elevation and sometime a little draw or straight ball.

Am I sort of "half-swinging?" :eyes:
