The hitchhiker's guide to golf.
Some time ago a group of golf digest teachers got together and sat around a big, wide table and discussed the golf stroke. After a few years of quarrelling, bickering and pointless debate they discovered that they all really didn't know what they were talking about.

With a bribe to NASA, they blasted a message into space along with a set of golf clubs and a dozen balls knowing that it was their only hope - along with a message to send the solution back in time. Years later it was discovered by a group of hyper-intelligent pan dimensional beings who decided to accept the challenge for the quest of golfing perfection.

They decided to finally answer the great question of golf, The stroke and Everything. To this end they built an incredibly powerful computer, Deep Thought. After the great computer programme had run (a very quick seven and a half million years) the answer was announced.

The beings sent the answer back to the teachers. The Ultimate answer to golf, the stroke and Everything is...

42... That's what I shot on the front 9 Sunday.

Does that mean "I'm close"?

Mathew,

The aliens' answer to all things golf (and otherwise) was misunderstood by the earthling teachers. Given the distances involved of time and space, this is not surprising.

What they said was not "42". It was...

Forti-tude.

Fortitude
Amen to that!

Wish I knew how to instill "Fortitude" into my children since I know I was lacking this back in May when I was ready to give up this game/quest!

42 is a reference to none other than Mariano Rivera. Best closer in the universe.
