hole-ie
I hit one in from 160 one time with an 8I that flew so straight into the hole that it didn't touch a side. It hit the bottom of the flagstick. I was holding my finish and knew it was really good. But, when it landed, it bounced 30 feet in the air. I thought I had misjudged the distance and hit a sprinkler head, but one of my buddies was closer to the green and told me it went in the hole.
It ended up better than going in the water. I had an 8 incher for birdie, most of which I can make.

Ted,
A dear friend of mine has been playing golf for over 45 yrs., more than 40 of which has been as a single digit....he is currently a 5. Well, 4 yrs. ago we were involved in a very serious match and on a short par 3 he hit a wedge that look awfully good.... it was good, it went in on a fly, hit the bottom of the cup and came back out and up....about 20 ft. in the air. It finished about 25 ft. away.... he didn't get the h-in-1, and he didn't get the greenie. But the interesting thing is that would have been his first h-in-1.

On a side note, I play with a very good player here in NC who has also been playing for a long time, more than 35 yrs. He is currently a 2, will be close to 0 when the weather warms. Last May we were out and on the third hole, he hit it pretty close and I followed with a h-in-1, he picked it out of the cup and said "not only have I never had one, this is the first I've ever seen." We both birdied the next, and the 5th is also a par 3... I got another h-in-1. He could only shake his head. Shows how lucky they can be.

Let me get this straight, psheehan...

Assuming the 4th is a Par 4, you go 1-3-1?

Three holes in five strokes: Now that, sports fans, is a purebred 'Hole-ie Experience!'

the fourth is a par 5, short good risk reward. So, I went 1, 4, 1.... I was pretty excited, the last hole in one prior to that was in 2000. But the BEST NEWS is all this took place with my old crummy swing. Now that I'm on my way to being a golf machine hitter, I expect to do much better....lol....

LOL if you ever expect to do that again you might as well quit golf now and save yourself a lot of time and money

great stuff psheehan, great stuff

I remember Arnold hit back to back aces on the same hole one round to the next, but two in a row, with a bird in between?

never heard of anyone else doing that!

Ed,
I thought maybe it was pretty rare...within a month I found someone else who had done it (2 in one round but not on sucessive par 3's) and someone I played with had a son who had done it and he told me it is done roughly 4 to 6 times a year. Still the biggest kick I got out of it was my friend (who picked the first one out, who hasn't had one in 35+ yrs. of playing golf as a single, currently 1.2) shaking his head. It's a lot of luck, but it is fun.

A one-less friend watching you hole two in three...priceless.

For everything else, there is Mastercard.
