March 17th was my trip to Myrtle this year and the first time using the stroke I learned from Yoda. Still a work in progress. Sometime I still take the club too inside and sometimes I mixed old habbits with the newly learned ones.............I was having trouble the first couple of days, and the bad cold weather didn't help much.
The third day, I felt better and was trying to get more height in my back swing. I will never forget this drive I hit with my friend watching on the this short par 5. All I remember was feeling the pressure point on my right index finger. It took off high and far. Sailed over all the sand trap hazzards (Carolina National) and landed 275 yards away. My friend said it was a bomb!!!!!. My wedges felt great, weight on left side and up and down. Nice divot. Three holes later, a 401 par 4. this time my drive was low and more piercing. I useed a PW for my second shot of 130 yards but pulled it...........Like I said it still is a work in progress. My overactive hips are killing me, I may resort to taking thyroid medicine for it!!!!!!. Well its back to the range...................rich
Rich, your story sounds very close to mine...in fact I think I had my lesson with Yoda the day after you did. I have been out 2 times since I have gotten back and have seen similair results to you...some really incredible shots, but a lot of poor ones where you seem stuck between the new stuff and the old. I didn't score very well on either round, but I had some great shots here and there and lately I have been becoming much more comfortable with the new allignments and changes at the range, so I can't wait to get back out there on the course.
I think we just need stick with it and we will start reaping the rewards by mid season (or maybe even earlier). Anyway, glad to hear you had fun down at MB...is this an annual trip?
Actually we go down to Myrtle twice a year. We played for the first time the TPC at Myrtle Beach.....Wow some golf course and great facilities.
At first you get discouraged and then boom, you hit some nice shots and feel the compression............But I was able to shoot an 85 with only a couple of nice shots that I hit well. The other shots I hit were okay but I had two birdies, and my putter did not let me down. Short game is coming along nicely............thanks for asking.....
