Me and my dad practice when I go to see him. My dad managed to hit the post we set out whilst he hit 50 and 40 yard pitches and managed to hit the post. Im usually a lil slower than him on hitting the balls so he walked over and waited for me to finish my 20 before collecting them and was practicing from 75 yards out. I said to him - lets see if I can hit the flagpost too, half joking even though I would try my best. It wasn't that I hit the flagpost but it was more the fact I hit it right after I said I would and its not something I say all the time....
I bet there was nothing between you and the target the moment you fininshed that sentence to when you hit the pole - except the target.
Thats what I call FOCUS through self talk!!!!! You could see it so you did it. Simple Mathew, just keep it that way. I do it all the time or at least try to repeat that mental process before EVERY SINGLE SHOT. I am not a tour player but I think I am when I play, Brings out the best in me.
Most of us are negative thinkers. Its like a 75 yard approach to a green where one has to hit over a bunker. 99% of us have the clearest picture of tha ball in the bunker but not on the green. We converse with ourselves something like " Geez, thats a deep one, better get over it or I'm dead." Yes you just dug your grave.Tour players see the bunker for sure but then it is crtl-alt-del from their computer. ALL unnecessary and frivolous segments of the picture are edited. That bunker is not a part of the picture hence.
Clear Key is the way to go. IT WORKS but you have to know how to play the concerto of the mind. When to stop the drums and start the flute. Think harmony - you get harmony. Think target - get target.
