After struggling with this silly game since '00, and not getting to play as much as I would like, I've finally broken 100, and I did it on a course that eats my lunch (and golf balls) on a regular basis. I shot a 97, which included a back 9 46 (the back nine is the more difficult, and I never shot better than 53). The coolest thing was that I parred both the 9th and 18th, and I had a bogey up-and-down that you had to see to believe. The most encouraging thing is that I left a lot of shots out there.
I know that this is a score that would make a lot of people gag, but I'm feeling good about it, and the trend of my scores. My scores this season have been 108, 109, 116, 106, 103, and 97.
My goal for this season was to break 95, and I know that is easily within reach (especially since I got a 10 on the par 5 second, lol).
Congrats Big Will - No looking back, that 100 millstone is behind you now.
Everyone has had to break that milestone at some point in their golfing life. Everyone has their own story as well.
Breaking into the 80's will come quickly and time spent with any of the Pro's here would accelerate that exponentially. Not trying to sell you, its just the way it works.

Congrats! Growing up just north of Detroit, I understand how challenging the game is with that long, cold off season you face every year. As Bagger mentioned, the steps down to 80 are big and don't take long; enjoy the ride.
I'll also echo what Bagger said about working with a pro. There aren't many TGM pros in our area, but if you find yourself travelling south be sure to take advantage of some time with one of them. You'll be glad you did.

Bigwill,
By now you know how this game works- so I would expect your next round after the 97 to be like 135 . Seriously, congrats on the progess- it's a great game to try to master.

Congrats Bigwill. We are all proud of you. Homer wrote the book for golfers like you and me. Well done.
Thanks, guys. It's been a long time coming, but I feel like even better scores are around the corner. I'm learning about (and trusting) my own game, and staying with what works. I'm obviously going to need help along the way, but I'm also going to trust my insticts much more than I have.
