Ricky Fowler
Was watching the final round of Q school and noticed this young mans' swing. Can anyone tell me exactly what he is doing in TGM terms ( and keep it simple for me!)?? Looks like it is really flat but he gets the job done, AND plays fast--can join my foursome anytime.

Great question!

I don't have the answer, I don't have video of his swing, but man, can he play! Simply more proof that there is no "one way." He has found the components that work for him, and has the guts to just go out and try to make birdies.

Not TGM, but a few observations.
I watched Ricky at the US Am this past summer. Kind of reminds of me the less-robotic hotshots like Ryan Moore and Ricky Barnes. The Korean fella that won is as robotic as you can get. Anyhoo, he shifts it all over the place, gets up on his toes ala Tim Clarke (using them ground forces I guess), throws it expertly (left wrist does not stay flat for long), hits it a bit crooked with good length, attacks EVERYTHING(Arnold Palmer's mini-me), pretty tasty short game, seems to be streaky with the putter, cocky beyond belief (will give Anthony Kim a run in this department)...sorely needs a barber! What I do like about Ricky is that he seems like a player, in the sense that he is not always fussing with his swing. He just wants to get it in the hole. The winner, "Benny" was obsessed with his plane etc. etc. The final was almost embarressing. Both players hacked it up. Southern Hills was tough, but they appeared to be holding on for dear life. Long week I suppose

Interesting motion, he really gets into a Hogan like position at release. Some serious flattening of the shaft...
