First, thanks Lynn for all his help. We've worked over the last few years on a number of things. Here's a brief synopsis:

Properly Soling the Club: I had a "bob" upward at the top, and it was caused by not "getting as far from the ball as possible"
at adjusted address. Taking excessive bend out from the knees, and spine at adjusted address took the bob away immediately.

Extensor Action: Maintaining the feel of the right arm staying straight (but under plane) at the top (and/or end), as well as at follow through increased the "structure" of my swing - less wobbles!

Hand Controlled Pivot: I have struggled with this for years! Making back swings with just my right arm, then attaching my left arm at various stages taught me the proper feel. I've also come to understand that with basic motion (zeroed shoulder turn) and aquired motion (minimal pivot), the pivot moves only enough to support the hands moving on the proper plane of the right forearm. This supporting role of the pivot to the motion of the hands was really big for me!

It's been a great ride - even though I've always been a pretty good ball striker, my shots have more compression now than ever before.

But beware the 'rub' . . .

Dan is left-handed!

As a concession to the majority, he wrote his post the same way he delivers most of his lessons, i.e., right handed! And never mentioned he does it exactly opposite!



I am used to dealing with right handed students and left handed students. And, I do pretty well making the transition between the two without resorting to terms such as 'lead hand' and 'trail arm' and the such. But, with Dan, I never know! The guy can kill it from both sides!

Somewhere along the way, we reached an agreement -- he suggested it in our first lesson, but I was slow to learn! -- that we simply talk in 'right hand' terms. I agreed, especially knowing that it was 'Homer's way'. Still, I have found it difficult to do, especially with Dan. I'll say something in 'right hand' terms, and he'll make the motion -- right handed! -- then take my right handed club and stripe it with the same motion.

What's a teacher to do?
